Jennifer FullerDownstate native Jennifer Fuller knew she wanted to cover politics and policy issues from an early age. Capitol News Illinois’ expansion into broadcast in late 2023 was the perfect opportunity to return to her journalism roots, and help build a multi-platform team. With decades of experience covering local, state, and national issues, Jennifer is ready to push CNI’s coverage to new heights. When she’s not working, Jennifer is likely cheering on her kids or enjoying the beauty of southern Illinois with her husband, Brian.

WHEN SHE’S NOT WORKING WITH CNI: I enjoy spending time with my family, cheering on my kids in their arts and athletic adventures, and traveling. I love musical theater and concerts and am a huge fan of college basketball. My life’s goal is to visit all the sites on my “must-see” list and learning more about cultures all over the country and around the world.

WHY SHE JOINED CNI: CNI’s already solid reputation in the print journalism sphere was ready to make the leap into broadcasting, and I am excited to help lead the team in that direction. During my time as a broadcaster, I was always happy to collaborate with great journalists of every medium, so this step in my career makes great sense. I am very much looking forward to the great work CNI will be able to produce not just for our print and broadcast partners, but also for our growing audience both inside and outside Illinois.

WHAT SHE WANTS YOU TO KNOW ABOUT CNI: CNI’s award-winning journalists are changing the world. From our “Culture of Cruelty” series which prompted dramatic changes in the state’s Department of Human Services, to a renewed focus on legislative process and policy, more people are paying attention to the decisions being made at the highest levels of state government. On top of that, CNI is doing journalism the right way – taking the necessary time to get the full picture, and giving the audience the information they need to make an informed decision about the world around them.

WHERE SHE SEES CNI IN THE FUTURE: CNI is already becoming a leader in public policy journalism in Illinois. With the expansion of our investigative and broadcast teams, that will only grow. I hope to see CNI at the forefront of statehouse and statewide coverage in the coming years, shedding light on policies and decisions affecting all walks of life.
