Bills letting students leave school to vote, lifting driver’s license suspensions will head to governor

Gov. J.B. Pritzker will soon have more bills to consider signing after the Illinois House this week approved three measures which had already passed in the Senate. They affect student access to the polls on Election Day, limitations to when the secretary of state can suspend a driver’s license and what happens to police pensions when municipalities grow.

Added ethylene oxide regulations clear House, await changes in Senate

A strict ethylene oxide regulatory bill passed the state House Wednesday with no votes to spare and promises of further discussion and potential amendments in the Senate.  Just one Republican, Rep. David McSweeney of Barrington Hills, joined 59 Democrats in voting for House Bill 3888, while 47 lawmakers voted against it and four voted “present.”
